Weekend Notes #9
7 pictures from my week
Today is my birthday. I didn’t plan to post this on my birthday, but it just happens to be Sunday. This year I didn’t feel like doing anything special, I just wanted to spend the day with my family in nature. Can anything be more special than that?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this quote from David Lynch:
“I don't know why people expect art to make sense. They accept the fact that life doesn't make sense” - David Lynch
Most of the personal photo projects I’ve made in the past had some kind of narrative. I always thought there needed to be a story behind them to give them meaning. And I was always searching for the next story to tell, almost forcing myself into something I didn’t feel or even believe in.
Lately, that’s changing. I’m taking pictures of things I notice, without really thinking about what they mean. Maybe they mean something, or maybe I’m trying to express something, I don’t really know (yet).
I’m giving myself the freedom to shoot what I feel like shooting. I’m no longer chasing the perfect, postcard-like image I used to take just because that’s what “people do.” I’m no longer shooting just so people can understand my photographs.
And here’s my small birthday reflection and a random set of photos from my week, plus a bonus one.

Nice photos, Rafa - and many happy returns. I hope you've had a great birthday.
happy birthday!
